She also founded the Queer Prom, in addition to volunteering for other organizations in the Hartford area. Estabrook notes the connections in her family to the health care field, and how she became involved in the Collective, how the Collective came about, and how it has been expanded over the years. During the interview she addresses times that she was denied opportunities based on her sexual orientation. Estabrook also talks about the importance of establishing activities and groups for gay and lesbian youth, such as the Queer Prom and the Rainbow Room.
