Creator: Bonelli, John
Description: Interview conducted by Robert Massicotte. John Bonelli was born and raised in Hartford, Ct. He studied religion at Trinity College with the intention of becoming a Roman Catholic priest. He became even more politically active after coming out in his senior year of college. Bonelli was the first openly gay candidate to run for City Council in the city of Hartford (1989). He also became active in the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Coalition and the LGBT Civil Rights Coalition. At the date of the interview he was working for the CT Positive Action Coalition, an organization devoted to HIV/AIDS education and socialization.
