Description: Interview conducted by Amanda Abbott. Carol Gale is a lesbian and feminist activist who was the chair of CT Pride. Gale was responsible for the gay Pride festival and parade in Hartford for the years 1982-1990. She describes how and why the parade came about and what purpose it served. She also describes the resistance she encountered along the way, including protests from the blue berets on parade day, and bureaucratic biases. Gale was also active politically, she was the first out lesbian on the Hartford Town Committee, and played a part in the movement for gay and lesbian civil rights within the state of Connecticut.
