Description: Interview conducted by Richard McHugh. Bert Kissling was the co-founder of the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective. He was born and raised in suburban Chicago. He moved to Ct. in the 1970’s in order to pursue a degree in Yale’s Physicians Assistant program. Since that time he has been working in the Hartford area in the health field and volunteering with the Health Collective. During the interview he discusses his ideas about religion and the church, gay marriage, gay parenting, and civil rights. He also describes how the Health Collective has decreased the marginalization of gay and lesbian health care, and supports national level health programs.
